Warner Family - What to wear for a family photo session

This family...
Can we all agree that this family is the most put together and drop dead gorgeous family in the state of Utah? Let's just say yes. Stunning stunning people. And these stunning people make stunning children.

I will ask you to notice their color choices. That question is always asked to me. What should we wear for family photos...
WELL!
Here are some tips.
Stay away from white, specifically right next to your face. If you wear white, then make sure it's in layers. Don't tell everyone to wear white on top and jeans on bottom. I'm praying that everyone knows that's not 'in' anymore. OR don't tell everyone to wear the same color. You can give them a choice of lots of colors. Here are some of my favorite color choices when it comes to family photos. Oh, I'll also mention that this color scheme was meant for a green backdrop like the one in this blog post.
Location: Green backdrop, mountains, field, orchard

Mustard yellow, plum, navy, grey

Red, coral, burnt orange, denim

dusty pink, cream, grey - this look would be beautiful with women in light skirts, and men in tweed vests with dapper hats.

turquoise, light blue, coral, and pink - so two shades of blue and two shades of pink

Location: the Great Salt Lake, studio or a simplistic minimalistic backdrop

Navy, kelly green, lime green, - stripes and textures

black, white, grey, gold

The KEY is to layer! Layer with hats, boots, necklaces, scarves, bow ties, cardigans, vests, jackets.... ACCESSORIZE!

Don't worry about everyone NOT matching. It's not in style to match. It's better if it 'goes'. Also, go out and buy new clothes from head to toe... and don't forget about the men. They usually get forgotten  which is SO sad because they're the bigger piece of the photo. Most women buy the most expensive item for their little newborn who is itty bitty in the photo. Then Dad is stuck wearing his old jeans and an iffy shirt. If you're spending the money for a fabulous photographer (like myself) then invest in your clothing and go all in.

Go big or go home.

Now have a look at how amazing these clothing choices are!

Greg and I rocked this session. I shot the individual family photos while he took the individual portraits. Two photographers are essential when it comes to shooting large families. We finished this session in 1 1/2 hours. Amaze!
